An antiquated institution. If the Royals gave up their titles and return the land expropriated from WW1 and WW2 MIA’s, got jobs, gave up the public grants they receive, pay proportionate taxes, then Britain may have significant funds to fund their failing institutions, instead of blaming immigrants. Royalty in this day and age! What a shame and disgrace

And yet the royals and British government rolled out the red carpet treatment for Trump along with some very rich American ogilarchs. Here in the US we all want to know exactly what that was supposed to be about? We all saw the lavish displays on TV and could almost hear them saying “Let them eat cake”.

The whole bunch are ridiculous, so much money spent on their upkeep. The institution should be disbanded.

I feel sorry for two daughters that have absolute shite burgers as parents. Even if you love them, you know what they are in all they have done.

Is he “stepping down” from the Order of the Garter and the Royal Victorian Order, or just no longer using those titles? I’m not sure how one would resign from an order, and I’ve seen no evidence he’s being removed by the sovereign. All Andrew has done is agree not to call himself various things but formally he retains all his titles. This is a very limited concession.

How about an equal treatment of Clinton’s ties with Epstein? At the end of the day, Clinton had him at the White House several times.

“This is what you get when you found a political system on the family values of Henry VIII ... [King Charles] is head of state, head of the armed forces, and head of the Church of England. In strict constitutional terms, this [does] not matter much. The English monarchy, as has been said, reigns but does not rule…” Christopher Hitchens

Yes, but the article seemed ambiguous as to whom it referred. Still, interesting stuff! Fergie looks ghastly in the photo….she has cancer, I believe. Do you know if that’s true?

About 10 days ago I saw Andrew driving himself down the Long Walk, Preston’s onto Royal Lodge from the Castle. I was lunch time, and he clearly hadn’t been invited to stay to eat. He did have a face like thunder

What are conkers?

Kerry Parnell's avatar

They are horse chestnuts and traditionally, you string them then play a game where you try to destroy the opponent’s conker. It’s an old game British people played every autumn, we used to play it as children
